Updates and Homework for 1/16:

All Students:
Attention All Student Who Walk to School: Please make sure you use the side walks when you are walking to and leaving school. The side walks will ensure your safety. If the sidewalks are too icy or are not plowed well please make sure that you have bright colors on and do not have your Ipod on so you are visible to the cars and you are able to hear them. We care about you and want to make sure you are safe not only in school but when you are coming and going also!

Attention all Middle School Students: Sign up NOW for the National Free Throw Championship contest hosted by the Knights of Columbus! It is open to all students ages 10-14 and will be hosted at the Perley School gymnasium on January 24th at 4:15pm. Contestants compete through a local, district, and possibly national competition! A pizza party will follow the event. Forms are here and available outside the middle school office. Contact Reg Tardif or Jim Connolly with any questions: 978.352.6473 or 978.352.8836.

Fire Prevention Poster Contest: Pick up a flyer outside the MS office to compete in a artistic poster contest with the theme of fire safety. The deadline for submitted artwork is January 30th! See Mr. Bruno, Mrs. Cannon, Ms. Murphy, or Mrs. Weldon for more information. This is a state-wide competition with cash prizes for the top three winners of $1,000, $500, and $250. Additional grant money is also provided to the local fire department for winners!

From Mr. Kaminsky: If anyone is interested in taking guitar lessons after school at GMHS, please contact Mr. Kaminski (kaminski@georgetown.k12.ma.us).

Grade 8:
Mrs. Mongeau: Cause and Effect Essay and graphic organizer due Tuesday (2 to 3 paragraphs).

Mrs. Girard: no homework for Spanish over the long weekend….study for your midterms!

Mrs. Bailey: Students have a vocabulary and reading comprehension mid-term in 8th grade on Tuesday, Jan. 20th. They should be reviewing their study guides and flashcards over the weekend.

Mrs. Reed: Finish MCAS packet D.2 on Venn diagrams

Grade 7:
Schauerman: SCIENCE - No homework. MATH - No homework assigned, but I advised the students to begin preparing for the Chapter 5 test that will take place next Wednesday!!

Ms. DiFruscio: Nice job on your projects! Tuesday in class we are going to talk about the Inauguration process, then watch our 44th President take office!

Mrs. Weldon: All Classes: Read Chapter 4 and complete all circled questions on p. 15. Vocabulary Lesson 15-due Thursday, January 22: All exercises and Note cards.

Mrs. Girard: no homework…see you next week!

Mrs. Morrison: A – Finish reading Ch. 4 and finish the circled discussion questions;B – Optional – voc. exercises.

Mrs. Husak: A – worksheet side 26 mixed number division rows A through E (13 problems) work is to be done on separate piece of paper –Quiz next Wed on sections 5.5 & 5.6; B – page 259 -261 # 2-68 e, skip 48 – Quiz next Friday on sections 5.4-5.8; E – page 259 – 261 # 32- 68 e, skip 48 # 86-92 e - Quiz next Friday on sections 5.4-5.8; F – worksheet double sided –“customary units table” on the front and measurement test on the back.

Grade 6:
Mrs. Lamoly: Just work on book response timeline, due the week of Jan. 27. KIEVE PAPERWORK!!!

Mrs. Fulton’s 6th grade classes should have turned in their portfolio’s “My Nutritional Guide to Good Health” by the end of this week. This will be a significant part of their grade for this quarter.

Mrs. Carminito: A Block: page 243 #11-14 # 28-37; F & G Block: study for test and binder check Wednesday; D & E Block: none.

Mrs. Harrington: No Homework

Mrs. Downing’s students are required to have at least 7 countries done by Tuesday for their U2 project.

Mrs. White: Read 20 minutes and record in log; A & E block logs and worksheets are due 1/20; D Block-Strategies 1,2, & 3.due 1/20.
