On Wednesday, September 21, 2011, all students participated in a Bullying Prevention play called Step Up.
Step Up is a play performed by Deanna's Educational Theater. Many thanks to the Georgetown PTA for sponsoring this important event.
Step Up consisted of two gender-based 30 minute performances followed by a 30 minute interactive discussion with the actors. These plays helped our students to recognize the different types of bullying and helped them to develop peaceful solutions to dealing with difficult issues. The progam emphasized the important role your student has in preventing bullying. This program will help all children understand the important role that we all play in making our community a safe and respectful place for all.
If your child is being bullied, has friends being bullied or if your child is exhibiting bullying behaviors, we encourage you to contact the school to discuss your concerns.
We look forward to working with you to accomplish our goal of creating a safe and bully free school.

September Updates
Hello. Welcome to our Middle School Blog!
I am writing today with some updates for you as we cruise toward the end of September. First and foremost, let me thank each and every one of you for the warm welcome you have given me.I feel very lucky to be a part of the Georgetown Community.
In MCAS news, we anticipate that the 2011 Student Test results will be mailed on September 26, 2011. We are actively working on reviewing individual and group data from all subjects and grade levels, and will be using that information to guide our instructional decisions throughout the upcoming year.
On September 27th, there will be a Math meeting in the High School Auditorium from 6-7 p.m. The meeting will of a general information nature, and will describe the placement process for students, as well as curriculum questions.
In locker news, we have received 15 new lockers which have been installed and are ready for assignment. 3 dozen new locks are on order to replace old locks, and we expect delivery in the next week. When these are installed, it should bring the final chapter of the Locker Saga to a happy ending.
I will be posting on this blog on a regular basis. Feel free to contact me with any information, questions or comments.
Sincerely,
Brian Gill, Principal GMS
