Updates and Homework for 2/6:

All Students:
Grade 8 students who would like to submit a baby picture for the MS yearbook need to do so no later than Friday the 13th. Pass these into your A block teacher. Pictures should have the student’s name and a block teacher name written on the back of the picture (not on an envelope)Please no photographs that are copyrighted by professional photographers. Any questions- please see Mrs. DiFruscio.

GAME DAY: The SADD ( Students Against Destructive Decisions) is hosting a Game Day for Middle School students on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 in room 3070 ( Ms. Difruscio’s room) from 2:30 until 4:00pm. Come have some fun playing board games with high school students. Snacks will be provided. Door prizes too!

Attention all Middle School Students:The Georgetown PTA will be holding its 3rd annual spelling bee sponsored by the Georgetown Record.When: Thursday, March 5, 2009 registration at 5:30 contest at 6:00Where: GMHS AuditoriumRegistration forms must be received by Friday, February 27, 2009 to participate in this event.Savings bond prizes will be awarded to the top 3 students.Important information and forms regarding the rules, word lists & the registration form will be posted on the middle/high school website within the next couple of days.For more info contact Laurie Kosciuszek at kosciuszeks@comcast.net.

Next week we will be reviewing
MCAS strategies, as well as beginning the background study for our book, ”My Brother Sam is Dead’. This book is set in the Revolutionary War period of our country’s history in Connecticut. The classes will al be reading this book together. There will be no book report book this month.

Updates and Homework for 2/4:

All Students:
To 8th grade parents and students: Whittier Regional Vocational Tech. High School interviews will be on February 12th at 8:00am in the guidance office. If you would like to apply please return your application to Ms. Francis by Monday February 9th.

Grade 8:
Mrs Reed: MCAS open response question.

Mrs. Bailey: Lesson 15 exercises and 10 original sentences are due Thursday.

Mrs. Mongeau: Worksheet “Education for All” Due tomorrow. And study for a Quiz on the social institutions Friday! Information of what to study given in class.

Grade 7:
Mrs. Hickey- All classes: Students in blocks A,B,E, and F have a quiz on the microscope tomorrow. They should use the papers from the first microscope lab to study. This is the same lab that came home attached to a parent note about a week ago. Students who did not complete the study guide on sponges in class need to complete it as homework for Wednesday.

Mrs. Husak: A – worksheet both sides 132/142; B – page 294 # 2-32 evens; E – page 294 # 2-32 evens; F – page 235 # 19, 20, 33, 14-18 evens, 22-32 evens calculators can be used to change ratios to decimals.

From Mr. Kaminsky: Permission slips and deposits for the May's music trip to Six Flags are due this Friday. Please return what you can to Mr. Kaminski and Mrs. Laflamme this week so we can plan for you.

From the Art Department: The second semester has begun! Any students wishing to collect their remaining artwork may stop by the art room anytime after D-Block to pick their work. (l have 6th grade passports, 7th grade drawings and 8th grade sculptures to return.) I thank everyone for letting me keep their beautiful works up on display in our hallways!*To all new art students: A reminder that you may want to bring in an extra shirt to keep in class for those messier days!

Georgetown Middle High School is producing Bye Bye Birdie on Feb. 5, 6, and 7th at the GMHS auditorium, at 7 p.m. The snow date performance is Sunday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. This hilarious comedy features students in grades 6-12 in the cast and crew. Tickets ARE ON SALE NOW during middle and high school lunches (about 10:15-11:30 and 12:15-1) and in the lobby from 2:15-3:15, each day until Wednesday, Feb. 4. It is highly recommended to purchase tickets ahead of time, as the play may very well sell out. Seats will be assigned.
