Updates and Homework for 10/3:

All Students:
Dance: $5 at the door, MUST have a signed dance contract, please bring your student IDs, Georgetown Middle School students ONLY. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A RIDE HOME AND YOUR RIDE COMES BY 9 TO PICK YOU UP!

Grade 8:
Mrs. Bailey: No Homework this weekend. Have fun at the dance!!!!!

Mrs. Sheridan: Gr 8 SCI G Block: NO HOMEWORK. A, C, E, F Blocks: You may work on your lab report (DUE TUESDAY). Finish Observations and Conclusions. Final lab report must be typed, but you DO NOT have to re-type it, just DOWNLOAD THE LAB REPORT DOCUMENT: Go to http://teacherweb.com/MA/GeorgetownMiddleHighSchool/sheridan/ AND CLICK ONHOMEWORK DOCUMENTS and fill in the info for hypothesis, variables, conclusion questions (as PQAs), etc. Your hand-written data table can be turned in AS IS - you do NOT have to type the data table. Ms. DiFruscio: No written homework over the weekend. Students should be preparing for their Middle East Map quiz to be given next week. I would like to note that only 5 students (out of over 100) took advantage of the bonus point opportunity for this quiz (mnemonic devices due no later than today). I hope this means everyone else already has memorized their map J

Mrs. Hickey’s classes: Just a reminder that the only homework for the week was to define the vocabulary terms for Chapter 1, section 3. The definitions are due tomorrow. There are 13. Students who took the Chapter 1, section 2 quiz will have their grades OR the test back tomorrow. I still have a couple of students who need to take the quiz. I also reminded the students that if they wanted the extra credit offered for the Chapter 1, section 1 quiz reflected on the progress report, I need that by tomorrow. Just a reminder- We have a Homework Club on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The Homework Club takes place in Room 3120 (my room) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It is in Mrs. Weldon’s room on Wednesdays. Miss Francis (the guidance counselor), Mrs. Weldon, and I take turns running the Homework Club. THANKS!

Updates and Homework for 10/1:

All Students:
Attention Parents: Georgetown PTA Bylaw Committee: We are looking for 2 to 4 volunteers to review the Georgetown PTA bylaws. This committee will meet no more than twice and will meet in October. If you are interested, please contact Robin O'Malley at either romalley13@comcast.net or 978-352-7614.

Mrs. Fulton’s 7th and 8th grade Foods Classes should review their “Recipe Math” (abbreviations, doubling, halving recipes, equivalents). They will all have completed a “pre-test” soon which they can use as a study guide.

DON'T FORGET: BRING IN SIGNED DANCE CONTRACTS IF YOUR HAVEN'T ALREADY! The Dance is THIS Friday from 6:30-9pm. Admission is $5 per person, Georgetown Middle School Students Only. Snacks and Refreshments will be available to purchase.

Grade 8:
Mrs. Bailey: All Lesson three exercises will be corrected tomorrow and pre-test will be administered. F block also is assigned to finish highlighting the important facts on the Julius Caesar worksheet. All books MUST be covered tomorrow or 10 points will be subtracted from your homework grade.

Mrs. Sheridan: G: Significant Digits worksheet; A, C, E, F Blocks: You are given two samples of pure copper. One has a mass of 20 grams and the other has a mass of 100 grams. COMPARE the two samples in terms of (a) volume, (b) mass, and (c) mass to volume ratio (or how dense is each object). (Note: This is a thinking question NOT a calculation!)

Mrs Reed: Ch 2 Assessment handout, both sides all problems. Work on Vocabulary dictionaries due on Friday. Chapter test on Friday.

Donations for Music Auction: MS Baskets
The Georgetown Music Parents are gearing up for one of it’s biggest fund-raisers of the year. We are asking for monetary donations to be used to make up baskets to be auctioned off.
The funds raised provide field trips, workshops, uniforms, instruments, scholarships and so much more.
If you wish to donate, please send money/check made out to Georgetown Music Parents to your child’s homeroom teacher or donations can be dropped off at the school store on Mon, Wed, Thurs.

Mrs. Hickey: Homework for all classes: Due Friday, October 3rd: Cahpter 1, section 3 vocabulary definitions. There are 13. There will be no other Science homework this week. Students took the quiz on Chapter 1, section 2 today. Students also received the extra credit for the Chapter 1, section 1 quiz. Some students have still not returned that quiz signed, so are not eligible for the extra credit until they do so. I suggested to students that if they wanted the extra credit points counted by the time progress reports come out (Teachers must enter progress grades on Monday, October 6th), then I needed to have the extra credit by Friday, October 3rd. Otherwise, they have until the marking period closes to complete the extra credit. More will be offered, as appropriate, after this quiz. FYI- We are beginning our study of adaptations, mimicry, camouflage, and symbiosis. This is a really interesting section of the book!

Grade 6:
Mrs. Lamoly: Rewrite and revise your expository paragraph about the Loch Ness monster...please keep all drafts as evidence of your writing process.

Updates and Homework for 9/29:

All Grades:
Attention all Middle School Parents!!! We need your help. The first Middle School dance of the year will be held this Friday, October 3. We would like to provide a concession stand with snacks & beverages that the students can purchase for a nominal fee. Proceeds raised will be used throughout the year to fund various Middle School activities/purchases.

We are looking for donations of baked goods (brownies, cookies, cupcakes, etc....), packaged snacks (chips, pretzels, etc...), candy, ice, pizza, bottled beverages--water, juice, soda (will be poured into cups). You may drop off your donations on Friday at the school by 5:30 p.m.
