Have a Great Weekend!!

All Students:

1. Picture Day has been rescheduled for September 22nd. Packets will be in mailboxes soon!

2. MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENT OPEN HOUSE: The time has changed to 6:30-8:30 on Tuesday, September 9th!

3. DROP OFF IN THE MORNING: Our morning drop off procedure has met with great success. In order for this to continue, please be reminded to drop your children off at Perley and have them walk to the Middle High School. We have a newly painted crosswalk, thanks to Mr. Peter Durkee, that we will be encouraging our students to use for safety purposes. If your child is injured or disabled please contact the office so we can give you a badge for your car so you are able to drive up to the school.

4. SCHOOL WIDE ASSEMBLY: On Monday, September 15th, all of our students will be attending an essembly on Melanoma. We are hopeful that this assembly will help our students be safe in the sun!

5. Middle School field hockey will begin Monday, Sept 8. Coach Begin will be there - make sure you're prepared to play!

6. MS Soccer practice begins Monday: 3-4:30 at Penn Brook School. If you missed Friday’s meeting but still want to join please see Ms. DiFruscio in Room 3180 Monday. Thank you!

7. Please make sure to return the Student/Parent Handbook signature page to your homeroom teachers, and please remember to bring in $5 for your agenda books.

From the Music Department:
All Middle School and High School Music students are taking orders for Fall Mums. (Flowers are provided by Bateman’s Greenhouse in Georgetown). All proceeds from this sale benefit each music student’s personal trip account. Plants come in two sizes – 8 inch and 12 inch. Plants come in 5 colors – White, Yellow, Purple, Burgundy Red, and Bronze Orange. Orders must be in to Mrs. Laflamme or Mr. Kaminski by Sept. 17. Plants will be delivered between 9:00 and 11:00 AM on Sat. Sept. 20. Please see a music student today!!! Thank you for supporting the GMHS Music Program. Homework/Reminders for 9/4/2008:

All Students:
1. Students interested in Middle School soccer (starts next Monday): there will be a meeting TOMORROW, after school in Ms. DiFruscio's room from 2:15-2:30.

2. Middle School field hockey will begin Monday, Sept 8. Coach Begin will be there - make sure you're prepared to play!

3. Please make sure to return the Student/Parent Handbook signature page to your homeroom teachers by TOMORROW! Thank you for your attention and focus during our class meetings today.

4. If you haven't already, please remember to bring in $5 for your agenda books. Hand money in to your homeroom teachers tomorrow!

Grade 8: ELA (Mrs. Bailey):
Read Welcome Back Letter and Class Rules and Expectations/sign and return bottom part of parent letter; bring in summer reading book for tomorrow; summer reading test on Tuesday 9/9/08

ELA (Mrs. White): All forms signed and returned by Friday! Also, you must be looking for a book to read and bring a spiral notebook to class.

Math (Mrs. Rydbeck): A Block- Reminder: 5$ for the planner, get handbook signed. Worksheet Practice 2-1: Do it all; E Block- Worksheet Practice 2-1: Do it all; F Block- Worksheet 1-2: # 11-13; G Block- Worksheet 1-2: # 3-7, and 11-13.

Math (Mrs. Reed): Read Chapter 2 Section 1 (2-1) to prepare for tomorrow. Cover your books, return the signed Expectations & Procedures page.

Ms. DiFruscio: All Grade 7 Students in Social Studies: Due this Friday: Social Studies Expectations read & signed; Textbook covered

Grade 6:

Mrs. Lamoly (ELA): A Block- Who am I--Look into a mirror and ask yourself "Who am I?" write down 5 answers; D, E, G Blocks- Write 10 comparisons/contrasts between you and your animal- you may use a t-chart or Venn Diagram.

Mrs. Reed: Return the signed Expectations & Procedures page. Bring in a 1 inch binder to leave in class for your picture dictionaries.

Homework/Reminders for 9/3/2008:

All Students:
1. Please bring your Student/Parent Handbook home with you and fill out the back page (student name and parent/guardian signatures). Please return this signed page to your homeroom teachers by this FRIDAY. I will be reviewing important information in the handbooks during class meetings in the auditorium tomorrow.

2. Please bring in $5 for the Agenda books passed out to you in homeroom this morning. Homeroom teachers will be collecting money on Thursday and Friday of this week.

Grade 8:
ELA (Mrs. Bailey): Read Welcome Back Letter and Class Rules and Expectations/sign and return bottom part of parent letter; bring in summer reading book for tomorrow; summer reading test on Tuesday 9/9/08

ELA (Mrs. White): All forms signed and returned by Friday! Also, you must be looking for a book to read and bring a spiral notebook to class.

Math (Mrs. Rydbeck): 1) get your book covered 2) remember to bring $5 for the planner 3) fill in the activity/club form 4) get a ruler and a scientific calculator

Mrs. Schaefer (Directed Study): must have an agenda book and free reading book by Friday.

Math (Mrs. Reed): Please review the Expectations & Procedures handout with your parents/guardians and return the last page ONLY by FRIDAY signed by your parent or guardian. Books must by covered by Friday.

Grade 7:
Mrs. Schauerman: A, B, E, F - Cover your books by Friday, no book socks! This is your first easy homework grade!

Mrs. Morrison: A block – Bag of Me; B block – Bag of Me; E block – Cover textbook. Use sturdy paper – brown paper bag, wallpaper, wrapping paper. Parent signature on Assignment Expectations; F block – Same as above.

Mrs. Weldon: ELA: Expectation Contract Signed; “All About Me” due Friday; Bring The Outsiders to class tomorrow for a review; Cover Literature book (use paper covers, avoid Book Socs)
