Updates and Homework for 12/5:

All Students:
Attention All Middle School Parents: The next Middle School dance is today, Friday, December 5. We are once again looking for donations of baked goods, packaged snacks and bottled beverages to stock our concession stand. This was very much appreciated and enjoyed by the students at the last dance. Donations may be dropped off in the cafeteria after 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Thank you for any and all donations.

Dance is $5 at the door - Georgetown Middle School Students only! Please bring your student ID.

Honor Roll Breakfasts will be held next week: 6th grade on Tuesday, 7th grade on Wednesday, and 8th grade on Thursday.

Grade 8:
Mrs. Rydbeck: All classes: No homework. Have a good weekend!

Mrs. Reed: Reteach and Practice 5-1 all

Mrs. Bailey: No homework this weekend.

Mrs. Girard: Study vocabulary pages 148/9 We will have a vocabulary quiz on WEDNESDAY 12/10. Students should practice vocabulary 10 minutes/day to see success with vocabulary quizzes. http://www.conjuguemos.com/ has a quiz students can take on vocabulary that will give them instant feedback on how they are progressing.

Grade 7:
Mrs. Schauerman: SCIENCE - Please bring in paper towel and or toilet paper tubes for an activity; MATH - E block - Page 163, Checkpoint 1, # 1 - 19; B block - No homework.

Mrs. Girard: 3 comic strips in which you use: (various) greetings; Ask and answer: name, age, where from, how are you? (use various answers) and use (various) closings.

Grade 6:
White: Read 20 minutes and record in log; A block-worksheet due on Monday, 12/8; Book orders due 12/12.

Mrs. Lamoly: No Homework...All presentations are completed and they were AMAZING! I am so impressed by the work ethic and effort from the students...The oral presentations were outstanding and the audiences were respectful and courteous throughout...WELL DONE!!!!!

Many students have completed the work already. These assignments are in preparation for the quiz on biogeography and succession that will be given on Wednesday of next week, unless something comes up.

Updates and Homework for 12/3:

All Students:
DANCE THIS FRIDAY NIGHT from 6:30-9 in the cafe. Admission is $5 at the door: Georgetown Middle School students ONLY.Honor Roll Breakfasts will be held next week: 6th grade on Tuesday, 7th grade on Wednesday, and 8th grade on Thursday.

From Mr. Kaminsky: Middle Band assembly during the day on Monday morning. Middle School Band concert on Tuesday night. Be here in concert dress at 6:00. Performance is at 7:00.

All Music students should bring poinsettia orders to Mr. Kaminski or Mrs. Laflamme today.
If you did not have your music class today and you have an order, please go and find Mrs. Laflamme or Mr Kaminski before the end of the day or first thing tomorrow morning.

Grade 8:
Mrs. Rydbeck: A Block- Study for chap.4 test tomorrow; E Block- Finish the stem-and-leaf plot question and make sure do it on a separate piece of paper; F Block- Practice 4-8 mixed # 23-37

Grade 7:
Mrs. Hickey’s classes: Some students need to complete 1 of 3 assignments related to biogeography. The assignments that were completed and turned in previously were returned with grades on them. Students who had the worksheets but did not complete them, or students who did not do one of the two worksheets need to complete at least ONE tonight. I provided extra copies of the worksheets for students who needed them. The 3rd assignment was on page 59, Section Review questions 1-4. If students have more than one of the 3 assignments to do, they will have the opportunity to do it tomorrow night. There will be a quiz next week on biogeography and succession. I hoping to give the quiz on Wednesday, December 10th, if the students do not have a big test in another subject on that day.

Mrs. Lyon: Computer6 students are going to begin learning how to email. The class will discuss online safety before using email. We will be using the website http://www.netsmartz.org/ as a basis for discussion. If your student is in computers and you have not signed a permission form please ask for the form or send in a note letting me know if you will allow your student to use email. For students that do not have an email account I will set one up using Gmail or Yahoo.

Updates and Homework for 12/2:

All Students:

The next yearbook meeting will be this Wednesday (Dec 3) from 2:15-3 in Ms. DiFruscio's room.
From Mr. Kaminsky: Middle School Band concert next Tuesday, 12/9 @ 7:00 in the auditorium. MS Band students should report to the band room at 6:00 in concert dress (black bottoms and white tops).

Grade 8:
Ms. Bailey: Students should be reviewing their vocabulary flash cards nightly to prepare for the two lesson test on Friday. All of Lesson 10 exercises are due Thursday.

Mrs. Sheridan: Quiz tomorrow on states of matter and thermal energy, temperature, and heat. Review analysis matrices/tables for “Temperature, Thermal Energy, and Heat” and “Criteria for the Common States of Matter” as well as vocab cards, compare/contrast sheets, and book: pages 26, 42-47, and 109 ¶ 1 (Plasma).

Mrs. Girard: 8th grade E, F, G - Study for Chapter 3 test tomorrow!!! Some websites we have used in class that are helpful with studying are: Conjuguemos.com where you can practice the verbs ir and estar. You can also practice vocabulary by book –Paso a Paso A. Quia.com where you click on quia web and then Spanish. Use key words “estar” or “ir” to get some activities to practice these verbs. Quizlet.com where you can go to category “paso” and find activities that have to do with paso a paso (our book) chapter 3. E Block students—little book was due today. Good job those of you that handed it in! Ask your student to be sure they handed it in, it is a project and he/she will lose 10 points per day late. F/G block students---little book is due on Thursday. Be sure to work on it each night!

Mrs Reed: There will be a chapter test on Thursday for Ch. 4 sections 4-1 thr 4-6. Vocab dictionaries are due Thursday for Ch 4. There is a new list handed out yesterday for that vocab. It is the same as the old list without the vocabulary for 4-7 through 4-10. Homework due Wednesday pg. 216 #1-15 all AND the handout on slope both sides all.

Grade 7:
All grade 7 students: WE STILL NEED MANY STUDENTS TO PLEASE BRING IN EITHER HAND SANITIZER OR TISSUES TO THEIR A BLOCK TEACHERS. Thank you to those of you who have already done this.

Ms. DiFruscio: Social Studies: review ALL Chapter 3 vocab. Be prepared for a quiz tomorrow.

Mrs. Hickey’s Classes: NO homework in any classes. The lab report was collected today. There will be homework assigned tomorrow.

Mrs. Weldon: All Classes: Double Negatives: p. 226 and 187; Due Thursday: All Vocabulary-Exercises, Note Cards, and Paragraph. Due Dates for Book Report - Character Analysis: December 5; Rough Draft (complete report): December 10; Book Report: December 16.

Mrs. Girard 7th grade 4, 5, 6: Welcome to Spanish class!! Homework tonight is to use notes from class to make three comic strips. You should have people greet each other, ask names and how are you, and use closing for each one. Vary the vocabulary so you don’t use the same expression (greetings and closings) for each comic strip.

Grade 6:
Mrs. Harrington: Due Wednesday—A Lot on Our Plates—complete the in-class worksheet
Due Thursday—Quiz—using your study guide, and textbook, be prepared to label illustrations and to answer a variety of multiple choice questions related to part one of Inside Earth.

Updates and Homework for 12/1:

All Students:
Attention 8th graders and parents of 8th graders: Tomorrow, Tuesday Dec 2, the entire 8th grade class will be visiting Whittier Vocational Technology from 8-12 for a tour and informational session. Please make sure to get your permission slips signed tonight and returned first thing tomorrow morning. Don't forget!

Attention 8th grade parents: the high school PIN night is tonight from 6:30-8pm!

Middle School Dance is THIS FRIDAY, from 6:30-9pm in the Cafe. Admission is $5: enrolled Gerogetown Middle School students only!

Mrs. Mongeau: Read Chapter 13 section 1 / bullet the main points from (Invasions of Western Europe, Germanic Kingdoms Emerge, Germans Adopt Christianity, An Empire Evolves, Charlemagne Becomes Emperor) Due Tomorrow.

Mrs. Sheridan: Complete chart: Criteria for the Common States of Matter. Study for quiz on Wed., Dec 3rd. Use your vocab cards, compare/contrast sheets, and also review Chapter 2, pages 42-47.

Mrs. Rydbeck: A Block- Reteaching 4-5 # 1-4; E Block- Extra Practice 4-4 : do the front side; F and G Blocks- Practice 4-8 example # 10-15 (solve and graph each compound inequality).

Mrs. Weldon: All Blocks - Due Thursday: Vocabulary Lesson 10 (Note Cards, Exercises, and Paragraph using at least 5 vocabulary words-underlined and part of speech labeled). A and B Blocks: Thematic Focus: from Icarus and Deadalus. Book Report due dates: Character Analysis: December 5; Rough Draft: December 10; Final Book Report: December 16.

Mrs. Hickey: ALL CLASSES: Students worked on the Analyze and Conclude section of the Seed Dispersal Lab Report. Tonight, students should complete any questions they did not finish in class. Tomorrow, students will put together the lab report at the beginning of class. Students WILL NOT have class time to complete the lab report. They must come to class prepared to staple it and pass it in. The lab report counts 5 times, as we have spent 5 full classes on it, not including homework time. It will NOT be accepted late.

Mrs. Morrison: A – Voc. Lesson 10 – Flashcards, sentences, exercises - all due Thurs. Also, complete comprehension questions from class. Reminder, the rough draft for the book report is due Dec. 10; B – Voc. Lesson 10 – flashcards are due Wed. Blue Book and exercises are due Thursday; E and F – Study the Guided Readings.

Mrs. Reed: Picture dictionaries due on Wednesday. I passed back work for the SquareA project. The square feet the students created into cubic feet will remain in the classroom. I also passed back work on Creative Equations, using order of operations. Please check with you student to see this work.
