Updates and Homework for 3/24:

All Students:
Middle School Jazz Band will be from 2:30 to 3:30 tomorrow, March 25 in the band room.

The Girls Basketball Banquet will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2009 starting at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. All levels and their families are invited.

The Boys Basketball Banquet will be held on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.

Strength and Conditioning will be held on Tuesdays from 6:00-7:00 a.m., Wednesdays from 3:00 -4:00 p.m and 5:30-6:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 noon in the weight room for anyone who would like to participate.

Grade 8:
Mr. Rydbeck: A Block- Finish the proportion worksheet: both sides; E Block- Finish practice 8-2; F and G Blocks- Study for Chapter 7 test.

Mrs. White: reading log and vocabulary sentences.

Mrs. Reed: MCAS Packet G.1, 2, 3

Ms. Bailey: All classes are working on Lesson 21 exercises due Thursday. Ten sentences, one for each new word, are due Friday for a Quiz grade. There will be no other test this week in spelling/vocabulary. Blocks A.C.E.F are all reading ch. 10 in our “Sam” book.G block will be working on ch. 9.

Mrs. Sheridan: Monday: Cell packet – Section 2-4 Anatomy of a Cell (4 pages); Tuesday: 1. Skim pages 40 – 44 to answer questions 1 – 4. 2. Review your cell vocab for quiz on Friday. Wednesday: 1. Skim pages 50 – 54 to answer questions 1 – 4. 2. Review your cell vocab for quiz on Friday. Thursday: 1. Skim pages 40 – 44 to answer questions 1 – 4. 2. Review your cell vocab for quiz tomorrow. Mrs. Husak: A-finish classwork page 10 #2-9 all, page 11 #13-20 all; B-page 503 # 2-22even- Quiz Friday; E- page 768-769 #11-15 all, #26-28 all – Quiz Friday; F- page 24-25 # 2-12 even, # 16-25 all.

Mrs. Schauerman: MATH - B- block - No homework; E-block - Page 19 # 1- 7, 11; SCIENCE - A - block - Read pages 54 - 61 & define the vocabulary. (The vocab. list is on Page 77, section 2.); other block: No homework.

DiFruscio- ALL BLOCKS: Quest on Friday: Chapter 5 Sections 2 and 4: (9) Vocabulary terms, (3) people (Aristotle, Plato, Socrates) & (5) Main idea themes.

Mrs. Hickey- All Classes: Students are to answer questions 1, 2, 3 and 4a on the Analyze and Conclude sheet handed out in class. Students in my A and B classes may have some of this done as they had a long block for Science today. I am still correcting the Mollusk quiz!!! I am as anxious to finish correcting them as the students are to get them back.

Grade 6:

Mrs. Lamoly: Vocab 7 Write the Derivative and Find the Example pp. 45-46- A,D,E,G block- Make a Change Brainstorm

Mrs. Harrington: Due: Wednesday—complete the “Changing Earth’s Surface” worksheet. Quiz—Thursday—“Erosion and Deposition”. Students have just completed part 1 of their study guide notes and they received part 2 of their study guide today.
Extra Credit: Students can receive up to 40 points extra credit. Andover library will be hosting many events related to the Dust Bowl of the 1930’s beginning on April 1st. You can attend any of the events seen on the library’s website www.mhl.org/andoverreads (for each event signed by the librarian you will receive 10 bonus points) or you may like to read the poems about the times and challenges of the people in a novel “Out of the Dustbowl” by Karen Hesse. You will receive 10 points for a page of poetry related to your own community, and what kinds of solutions you think could be of help, or you can write a one page summary of Hesses’ novel.

White: Read 20 minutes and record in log; D Block similes/metaphors and web; F & G Blocks- personification and onomatopoeia examples from reading.

Mrs. Reed: Grp 6 Picture Dictionary due tomorrow, finish your menu for tomorrow. Bring back to class, we will be trading menus tomorrow to do math work.
