Updates and Homework for 1/6:

All Grades:
Attention Parents: The Georgetown SEPAC is hosting a Parent Coffee hour with State Representative Barbara L'Italien, this Friday, January 9 at 12:00, at the Georgetown Library. Rep. L'Italien is a strong advocate for special education and any parent wishing to learn more about special education in our state or voice their concerns or opinions are encouraged to join us. Bye Bye Birdie rehearsals this week will be Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday for all cast and crew, from 2:30-4:30 in the auditorium. Please make sure all your lines are memorized! Also, if you have left the play for any reason, you must return your music and script binder to Mrs. Viera or Mrs. Laflamme by the end of THIS WEEK.

From Mr. Kaminsky: Middle school jazz band will not meet this week. The first middle school jazz band rehearsal will be next Wednesday, January 14 @ 2:30 PM.

Grade 8:
Mrs. Bailey: All students must have a book report book in class by tomorrow, Wednesday. This month it is a free choice book and should be brought back and forth to school as the students will be given some class time to read. All exercises for lesson 13 in vocabulary are due to be corrected on Thursday. We are currently working on our “Achieving the American Dream” course of study. It is a smooth follow up to the Overcoming Adversity topic that we just finished. If any families have an immigration story to tell, please feel free to contact Michelle Bailey and maybe we can arrange a visit to share your story with the students.

Mrs. Weldon: Vocabulary from Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry- Section I (Chapters 1-3); Due Thursday: Vocabulary Lesson 13—Note Cards and Exercises

Mrs. Hickey: I returned a number of assignments to students in all classes. Students are to check to see which assignments they did not receive back graded or checked. If they failed to turn the assignment in, it will be accepted tomorrow. If the assignment was not done, they have tonight as an opportunity to do the assignment for full credit. The assignments were listed on the board, and students were supposed to copy the list into their notebook and check these assignments against those that were returned today.These assignments represent work done between December 11th and December 16th. The only assignment that has not been corrected is the animal cell model that we worked on in class on December 17, 18, 19, and 22nd. These should be graded by the end of the week.

Grade 6:
Mrs. Carminito: A Block: practice 5-8 worksheet #17-25; D Block & E Block: complete 6-3 worksheet, quiz Thursday; F & G Block: complete 6-5 worksheet.

Mrs. Harrington: Due Wednesday—try your best to complete the questions in the volcano/earthquake packet. Have your parents sign-off on any questions you are unable to answer. Begin to think about the layout for your table of contents. (I recommend using part of your questions as headings for the table—for example, Location of volcano……………page 1, Date or Dates of eruptions……..page 2, Type of volcano………….page 3). Also, begin to locate some pictures that you would like to include in your booklet.

Mrs. Lamoly: 1. Vocab Lesson 20 pp. 130-131Rdg. Comp.; True or False; and Finish the Thought; 2. Summarize Myth, Legend, Folklore or story about earthquake/volcano for Science project.

Mrs. White: Read 20 minutes and record in log; C Block- Write 5 sentences using “ity” or “ize” words. Each sentence must have 12 words in it.
