Updates and Homework for 4/8:

All Students:
Friday, April 10, 2009 will be a half day. Dismissal will be at 11:02 a.m. and lunch will not be served.

From Mr. Masys: the last day for middle school track sign-ups is Wednesday, April 8. Middle School Track will start on Tuesday, April 14th for 6th Graders, Wednesday, April 15th for 7th graders and Thursday, April 16th for 8th graders.

Grade 8:
The eighth grade team is pleased to announce a trip to New York on Friday June 12th. Students have been given a permission slip to be signed and returned no later than April 14th. Grade 7:
Mrs. Hickey: A and B block classes have 4 questions to answer on the Cricket Lab. The answers are in the lab packet. Students may use page 63 in their text if they want to. Some E and F block students may not have finished these questions in class. They had long block Science classes today so had additional time. E and F block students will have homework tomorrow due on Monday. A and B blocks will have long blocks tomorrow and should not have homework, as they will have the time to complete the work in class. Thanks!

Mrs. Weldon: Study for Vocabulary Lesson 23 Test and Grammar Test (comma usage), exercises and note cards; Rough Draft-Biography~ for Author’s Research Project—notes, rough draft, and bibliography. Grammar Packet: pp. 282 and 283

Mrs. Schauerman: SCIENCE - Complete questions 1 - 4 in the Cricket Lab Packet; MATH - Chapter 1 Test tomorrow. Please study Sections 1-1, 1-2, 1-4, 1-5 & 1-9. Pratice 1-9 Worksheet all.

Mrs. Girard: 7th grade- no homework—see you next week!

Grade 6:
Thursday—Test on Unit 5--Weathering, Erosion and Deposition. Students should use study guides 19(2), 24 and 25 for Thursday’s test.

Extra Credit: Students may receive up to 40 points extra credit. The Andover library will be hosting many events related to the Dust Bowl of the 1930’s beginning on April 1st. You may attend any of the events seen on the library’s website www.mhl.org/andoverreads ,or you may like to read the poems about the times and challenges of the people in a novel
“Out of the Dustbowl” by Karen Hesse. You will receive 10 points for a page of poetry related to your own community, and the kinds of solutions you think could be of help, or you can write a one page summary of Hesses’ novel. You will receive 10 points for every event attended and/or viewing of the Dust Bowl photo exhibit.

Mrs. White: Read 20 minutes and record in log; D Block, signed log and figurative language.

Mrs. Reed: Turn in Picture Dictionary group 8 if not done. Turn in MCAS practice packet if not done.
