Updates and Homework for 4/7:

All Students:
Friday, April 10, 2009 will be a half day. Dismissal will be at 11:02 a.m. and lunch will not be served.

From Mr. Masys: the last day for middle school track sign-ups is next Wednesday, April 8. Middle School Track will start on Tuesday, April 14th for 6th Graders, Wednesday, April 15th for 7th graders and Thursday, April 16th for 8th graders.

Middle school Jazz band will start at 3:00 this week (4/8).

Grade 8:
The eighth grade team is pleased to announce a trip to New York on Friday June 12th. Students have been given a permission slip to be signed and returned no later than April 14th. Grade 7:
Mrs. Hickey: All classes: Students need to finish the Analyze and Conclude section of the Pill Bug Lab. We went over the questions in class to make sure that everyone understands what the questions are asking as well as HOW to answer them. This lab will count 3 times toward the Quarter 4 lab average. There will be no homework assigned tomorrow night. ALSO: Next Tuesday, April 14th, there will be a test on crustaceans and insects. We will begin studying insects tomorrow and complete our study on Friday.

DiFruscio: E & B none; A & F finish vocab from class list today for tomorrow; F – Wave assignment due Thurs.

Math – Mrs. Husak: A – no homework – test today; B- page 536-537 # 2-16 even- quiz Thursday on 10.1-10.3; E- see B; F – page 289-290 # 1-16 all skip 4, and 5.

Mrs. Schauerman: MATH - Page 24 # 2 - 12. We will have a Chapter 1 Test on Thursday. SCIENCE - Page 61 # 1 -5.

Mrs. Morrison: A – Voc. assignments – first draft of the biographical information for author research project is due Thursday; B – Describe where and how Jack lived in one paragraph.
E and F – first draft of The Wave questions.

Grade 6:
Mrs. Lamoly: Vocab Lesson 8- pp. 51-52- Finish the Thought, Write the Derivative and Find the Example- Quizlet.com has vocab8. Continue working on Change essay…at least three paragraphs should be completed by Wed.

Mrs. Fulton: 6th grade reminder: A few students still have not turned in their completed Food/ Exercise/ Screen-time journals. It is crucial that these are completed as they are part of the student’s “Nutritional Guide to Good Health” projects. We are currently completing a computer analysis of this information.

Mrs. Carminito: A Block: quiz tomorrow; chapter test and binder check Tuesday; D Block: page 63-64 #1-43; E Block: page 63-64 #1-43; project due tomorrow; F & G Block: none.

Mrs. White: Read 20 minutes and record in log.

Mrs. Harrington: Due: Wednesday—Lab--“How do Glaciers Change the Land? Students will be making their own glacier and observing how their miniature glacier changes a piece of soap or wax. Due: Thursday—Test on Unit 5--Weathering, Erosion and Deposition. Students will be using study guides 15, 19(2), 24 and 25 for Thursday’s test.

Extra Credit: Students may receive up to 40 points extra credit. Andover library will be hosting many events related to the Dust Bowl of the 1930’s beginning on April 1st. You may attend any of the events seen on the library’s website www.mhl.org/andoverreads ,or you may like to read the poems about the times and challenges of the people in a novel
“Out of the Dustbowl” by Karen Hesse. You will receive 10 points for a page of poetry related to your own community, and what kinds of solutions you think could be of help, or you can write a one page summary of Hesses’ novel. You will receive 10 points for every event attended and/or viewing of the Dust Bowl photo exhibit.
