Updates and Homework for 11/7:

All Students:
See Mrs. Fulton to sign up for another “Cooking Club” event Thursday, Nov. 13th after school from 2:15- 3:30. Open to all Middle School Students, however space is limited, so sign up soon. We will be making Banana Split Pizza and Fruit Smoothies.
Make some fun snacks and get more fruit in your diet!

Parents: don't forget student-led conferences are coming up starting on November 19th! Also, winter sports sign-ups are Thursday, November 13th at 6:30 in the cafe.

Grade 7:
Mrs. Schauerman: SCIENCE - A-block - Photosynthesis Worksheet; A& F The photosynthesis quiz is scheduled for Wednesday. MATH - B- block - page 120 # 17 -20, page 124 # 9-14.

Mrs. Husak: A – page 140 # 3, 4, 5 – quiz next Thursday or Friday on solving equations on multiplying and dividing. Gradesheets will be coming home on Monday for students to fill out and get parent signature. B – term 1 gradesheet is to filled out both sides and signed by the student and by a parent due Monday or else!! E – see B; F – see B.

DiFruscio- Social Studies: Test on Ancient Egypt (chapter 2) is next week WEDNESDAY- vocab (first 4 columns on study guide) Key Concepts FRIDAY; Students received their study guide 3 weeks ago- they should be preparing for this test. No Study Jam for this test. Any student with specific questions about information from the study guide should make an appt. to come for extra help with me (before/after school or at lunch) with their SPECIFIC questions/concerns.

Grade 6:
White: Read twenty minutes; Work on inference templates; A Block-3 inferences due on Monday, 11/10; C & D Blocks-1 inference template due Monday, 11/10; E Block -3 inferences due on Wed.,11/12.

Mrs. Lamoly: Some students did not finish their vocab stories and they need to be completed for Monday. Other than that, no written work, have a restful weekend!

Mrs. Carminito: Complete open response paragraphs.

Mr. Pitella: No Homework

Mrs. Harrington: Due Monday: Complete the MCAS multiple choice question on the back of the #19 question. Next week’s agenda: planning model presentations; Conduction, Radiation and Convection; Plate Tectonics.

Updates and Homework for 11/6:

All Students:
Winter Sports Sign-ups (Basketball, Cheering, & Wrestling) will take place on Thursday, November 13, in the CafĂ© from 6 to 7:30p.m. High School Indoor Track is a co-op sport with Ipswich High and takes place at Ipswich High. Forms are available at the main office and sign-ups are the week of November 17th at Ipswich High School. High School Boy’s Ice Hockey is a co-op sport with Pentucket High School. If you are interested please see Mr. Prescott.

The bi-annual Georgetown Music Parents Auction is being held this year on Friday November 7, 6-11 PM at the Georgetown Club. Please come and support our active music program. There will be a silent and a live auction. If you would like to donate items to be auctioned or you have any questions about the aucition, please contact the Georgetown Music Parents at themusicauction@yahoo.com.

Attention 6th grade parents: Don't forget tonight is Camp Kieve information night from 6:30-8pm in the auditorium!!!

Friday Nov. 14 will be GHS Band Night at Spuds on Rt. 1 in Rowley. Please help support the GHS Band by eating at Spuds anytime on Friday Nov. 14. 20% of all food sales that day will go to the GHS Band when a special voucher is presented. Please see Mr. Kaminski or any GHS Band member for the Spuds night vouchers.

Grade 8:
Mrs. Rydbeck: A Block- Page 584 # 1-20, # 28-35. Remember quiz tomorrow; D Block- Practice 3-10 # 1-12; F and G Blocks- finish all the word problem.

Mrs. Reed: study for Ch 3 Test tomorrow. Ch 3 vocabulary due tomorrow. Bring in any homework passes you have not used.

Mrs. Mongeau: Students have been given a study guide for a quiz that will be given on Monday ~ Chapter 10 Section 1.

Ms. Bailey: All students are assigned to bring in two persuasive essay topics, written on a flashcard, to school tomorrow. This is my way of giving students a chance to choose a debatable topic they are interested in so the essay process will be a more positive one. I look forward to sharing theses ideas in class. All students are required to have a science fiction reading book with them each day. This book is November’s book report assignment. These reports will be due December 1st. A detailed explanation page will be sent home soon.

Grade 7:
Mrs. Weldon: Grade 7- Language Arts - Study for Vocabulary Lesson 8 Test; Choose a mystery/horror book for the next book report.

Mrs. Schauerman: SCIENCE - Complete your photosynthesis drawing; MATH - Page 516 # 1 - 4, 17 -32

Ms. DiFruscio: Start studying for Egypt test next week (Wed vocab/essay Friday key concepts).

Mrs.Hickey’s classes:
Students are preparing for a quiz NEXT THURSDAY (November 13th) on Photosynthesis. Students should be working on three assignments:
1.) A picture of photosynthesis including the sun, a plant and an animal. Students have been told what to label on the picture.
2.) Reading the “Photosynthesis” packet given to them and completing the worksheet that goes with it.
3.) Answering the 4 Section Review questions at the end of the Photosynthesis packet.
We have worked on these assignments for several days. Some students are done. Some students need to complete one or more of the above. There will be no homework over the weekend.

Mrs. Husak: A – page 120 # 21-28 all solve and check – quiz tomorrow on solving equations by adding and subtracting; B & E – page 142 # 6-20 even – Quiz next Wed. on sections 3.1-3.4; F- page 127-128 # 2-30 even –quiz tomorrow on sections 3.6-3.7 – Chapter 3 test next Friday.

Grade 6:
White: Read 20 minutes; C & D Blocks inference template due 11/7; A & E Blocks working on inferences; Book orders due 11/14.

Mrs. Lamoly: Review/Study Vocab words from Lesson 5---NO TEST! Review/have an adult look over your creative vocab story...NO TEST TOMORROW!

Mr. Pitella: Ask questions to members of your family related to the word "refugee" (meaning of the word, if any family member has known someone who was or is considered a refugee, etc.)

Mrs. Mongeau: Plays are due tomorrow!

Mrs. Girard: 8th Grade—E, F, G: Examen tomorrow!! Study for your chapter 2 test. One website that may help you study is http://www.conjuguemos.com/ you can enter as a student and click on Spanish Verbs. You should practice present tense regular verbs (choose only the –ar verbs). We did this activity in class last Friday and most students found it very helpful as the site provides instant feedback. Furthermore, you can click on “Spanish vocab by book) and scroll down to Paso a Paso 1 chapter 2 and it will quiz you on vocabulary from the chapter.

Grade 7:
Ms. DiFruscio: Book of the Dead projects that were NOT passed in today should be handed in tomorrow for late credit. Thank you! Thursday night- start studying for Egypt test next week (Wed vocab/essay Friday key concepts).

Mrs. Girard: 7th grade - practice numbers 0-39 outloud, review classroom objects and practice your self-introduction for student led conferences.

Mrs. Weldon: Grade 7 Language Arts - Due tomorrow: Vocabulary Lesson 8: All Exercises, Note cards, and ten sentences. Tree Experience Essay - Due Monday: Mystery/Horror book for next book report.

Grade 6:

Mrs. Harrington: Science Homework Due Wednesday: Piecing It All Together: Color, label, and glue the major landmasses onto an 81/2 X11 sheet of paper (use today’s handout or your text for support). Don’t forget the safari planned for tomorrow’s class!

Computer6 students continue to work on their touch typing; on average students have completed 8 out of 20 lessons. Practice at home will really accelerate their progress; http://www.gamequarium.com/ has terrific courses and games for keyboarding practice.
