Updates and Homework for 10/31:

All Grades:
Mrs. Fulton’s 6th grade classes should bring completed Food Journals to class no later than Monday, Nov., 3rd. We will be using this information in the computer lab to analyze diets/exercise.

See Mrs. Fulton to sign up for another “Cooking Club” event Thursday, Nov. 13th after school from 2:15- 3:30. Open to all Middle School Students, however space is limited, so sign up soon. We will be making Banana Split Pizza and Fruit Smoothies.

Grade 8:
Mrs. Rydbeck: All classes: No homework. Happy Halloween!

Grade 7:
Mrs. Hickey’s classes: I sent home a slip of paper with the grade for the last quiz on it. I am holding the quiz for parents to review during the November conferences. There is no new homework over the weekend. Students who have not turned in their Chapter 2 vocabulary definitions need to do so Monday. This has been an ongoing assignment for over a week.

Mrs. Husak: A - page 110 # 5-12 all, # 17-20 all and the ant cracker box worksheet should be done; B & E – page 126 # 1-32 all, and mcas question/inequality worksheet from class; F – finish integer solutions worksheet.

Mrs. Weldon: No Homework! Have a great weekend!

There will be a silent and a live auction. Grade 8:
Mrs. Mongeau: Chart for your religion project is due tomorrow. Remember to have all 15 facts complete with detail if needed.

Mrs. Sheridan: A – From today’s lab on chemical reactions, follow step 7 on the lab sheet to make a 2-column table with “Observation Categories” such as “bubbles/gas formation” and “Evidence of Chemical Change” such as “the formation of bubbles means a new substance, a gas, was probably made.” C – Read and complete worksheets (both sides): “Chemical Changes” and “Physical Changes." E – Read 20.1 Chemical Changes (digestive system). As you read, sketch – or write a short sentence – of each example of chemical and physical change in the text. F – Worksheet (2 sides): “Properties of Matter/Identifying Chemical and Physical Changes.” G – none.

Grade 7:
Mrs. Schauerman: Science & Math - No homework.

Mrs. Girard: 7th grade – D block: Get quiz signed. Practice alfabeto and be ready to spell your name out loud. Review classroom objects—quiz on alfabeto and objects on Monday 11/3

Mrs. Husak: A – no homework; B & E – study chapters 1 & 2 for cumulative test tomorrow; F – finish watch your signs worksheet.

Mrs. Morrison: A – tree poem – voc test tomorrow; B – voc. test tomorrow; E and F – Research 3 – 5 facts on The Book of the Dead and create something for the Nile River map.

Students will be responsible in designing a model that helps to illustrate their understanding of the 4 major layers of the Earth. The skill’s focus for this project is as follows:
*application of the concepts learned in the chapter text to a model of Earth’s interior;
*interpret data to make their model to scale;
*design and make a model of the Earth’s interior and features of the surface;
*communicate the features in their model in a presentation to class (I will be explaining this part on Friday and next week—not to worry).
Examples of project ideas are (but not limited to):
Styafoam (can be purchased at a local art supply store)
Plaster
Baked goods (exp. cake, large cookie)
Tee shirt
Hat
Rubric:

Grade 8:
Mrs. Mongeau: Using page 296 fill out the chart depicting the similarities and differences among Jews, Christians and Muslims/due tomorrow.


Mrs. Bailey: Lesson 6 exercises are due Thursday. Students should be reviewing their study guide sheets for the Julius Caesar test on Thursday. We will be reviewing them in classes tomorrow also. Only the facts and the quotes on the study guides will on the test. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Grade 7:
Mrs. Morrison: A – Questions 1 and 2 for Stopping by the Woods – voc. flashcards are due tomorrow – sentences and exercises are due Thursday; B –Voc. flashcards are due tomorrow – exercises and blue Book are due Thursday –Challenge: memorize your assigned poem stanzas; E and F – Ch. 2 Section 4 Review, questions 1 – 6 on p. 72 is due on Thursday.


Mrs. Weldon: Vocabulary - Due Thursday: All Exercises, Note cards, and Sentences; Study for test on Friday. Poetry: “Tree at my Window” –analyze and determine the three levels of meaning: Critical Thinking # 1-4; Three pressed leaves for project.

Mrs. Hickey’s classes: The quiz on Chapter 2, section 1 was today. Due Thursday: Energy pyramid we worked on in class last Friday (October 24th). Due Monday: All Chapter 2 vocabulary definitions. We have been working on these in class off and on for over a week. Some students are done, some need to complete.

Mrs. Husak: A – page 114-115 # 2-42even – quiz this week on +, - , x and dividing integers; B & E – study chapter 2 for test tomorrow – page 119-121 # 1-53 for 5 extra points on test; F – reteach 3-6 worksheet # 7-14 and Practice 3-6 # 1-8.

Mrs. Schauerman: SCIENCE - Complete questions 1-5 page 50. There will be a quiz on food webs in section 2-1 on Thursday, please study your vocabulary words. Also, Wednesday at lunch there will be a retake on the vocabulary portion of the Chapter 1 test. Anyone who is not happy with their performance on this section is invited to retake it and improve their grade! MATH - Page 120 - 121 #17 - 44 & 48 - 51.

Grade 6:

Mrs. Lyon: To facilitate keyboarding practice for Computer6 students I have set up a private Google group for our classroom. The group gives the student access to links for keyboarding courses and games which will allow them to practice at home. To access this group your student must have an email address. If your student does not have an email address I will set one up in school using Gmail or Yahoo. You will be receiving a permission slip to allow your student to use their email in school.

Due Friday: Press three leaves (one from your favorite tree) and bring them to class on Friday.

Mrs. Girard: En mi mochila hay….you are make a collage (using pics from magazine, drawn or clipart or imported pics) of a backpack and use pics and label at least 5 items that are in your backpack. Be careful to copy the vocabulary accurately and use the appropriate definite article.

Ms. DiFruscio: Homework this week: Due Tuesday- finish Chapter 2 Section 3 Guided reading if not already completed in class; Due Thursday- Chapter 2 Section 4 review ( in book, end of Section 4- all questions, PQA except chart).
