Updates and Homework for 2/25:

All Students:
There is a middle school dance this Friday night, sponsored by the sixth grade from 6:30-9pm - $5 at the door. Note to parents: please, if you are willing to donate and/or purchase snacks and juice/water/soda to be sold at the dance, we would welcome any assistance you could provide! Please drop off any refreshments or snacks at the main office by Friday afternoon. Thank you for your help!
Playoff Game: Boys Basketball Georgetown vs. New Mission Home game on Saturday, February 28 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $5.00 for students and $7.00 for adults. THERE ARE NO DISCOUNTS FOR BASKETBALL PARENTS/SIBLINGS! Come early, as the game will probably sell out.

From Mr. Kaminsky: MS Jazz Band at 3:00 (not 2:30) this Wednesday in the band room.

GET YOUR REGISTRATION FORMS IN FOR THE SPELLING BEE! Forms are due no later than this Friday, February 27th! Mr. Bruno will be the moderator, Superintendent Jacobs will be the master of ceremonies, and Officer Jones will be a judge! Come test your skills and win up to $100 in savings bonds!!!

DANCE CLUB TRYOUTS will be held next Monday and Tuesday, March 2 and 3, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Be ready to perform a 30 second choreographed routine. All candidates must attend both practices.

There will be a Mandatory Preseason Baseball meeting on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 right after school in the café.

SPRING SPORTS SIGN-UPS are scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, 2009. Coaches meetings from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m., sign-ups in the café from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Forms are available on the table in front of the Main Office. If you are interested in playing a spring sport, please come to the coaches meeting and sign up on Wednesday, March 4.

YEARBOOKS: Attention ALL students: Do not miss out on the opportunity to purchase your copy of the 2009 yearbook. The price is $65.00. Seniors, your cost is only $50.00 because of a senior class donation. Order forms are located by the front office. See Ms. Dodge is you have any questions.

Grade 8:
Mrs. Reed: pg. 340 #1-24 all,#28-30 all

Mrs. Rydbeck: A Block- Finish the review questions (Ch.7.3-7,7). Quiz tomorrow during the second half of the class; E Block- Worksheet Lesson 6 proportions: do the back side of the worksheet; F and G Blocks-No homework. Good job on the chapter 6 test!

Mrs. Sheridan: No Homework.

Mrs. Mongeau: Vocab worksheet fill ins and vocab divided page (4 words on page 91)

Ms. Bailey: Exercises for lesson 17 will be corrected tomorrow in all classes. Four question worksheet for chapter one in My Brother Sam is Dead are due tomorrow in classes also.

Grade 7:
Mrs. Hickey’s classes:
A and F blocks have section 5 and 1 vocabulary definitions from page 77 to complete for homework. E block has no homework. B block needs to complete the above only if they did not complete the definitions in class

Mrs. Morrison: A – All voc. assignments are due tomorrow – flashcards, sentences, exercises; B – Final draft of paragraph; E and F – work for 20 min. on class work – p. 148,149.

Mrs. Husak: A – finish practice worksheet 6-2 and reteach 6-4 side; B – none
E – none; F – finish both sides of worksheet 6-4.

Ms. DiFruscio: finish in class assignment if not completed in class today: Chapter 4 Section 4: Vocab; reading check ?’s; Section review 2-6.

Mrs. Weldon: All Classes: Vocabulary Lesson 18 (exercises and note cards-five sentences) due tomorrow; A and B Blocks: Writing Prompt: Web, Template and rough draft; E and F Blocks: Writing Prompt: Web, Template and rough draft Opening Paragraph.

Schauerman: SCIENCE - No homework; MATH - Reteach 6-4 Worksheet all & Practice 6-4 worksheet all.

Grade 6:
Mrs. Harrington: Due: Friday—students need to complete a “Comic Strip” using characters that help to explain some of the new vocabulary terms related to weathering and erosion. Make at least 5 frames and include a minimum of 5 new terms. Please make your comic strip colorful unless black and white is part of your theme. Also due Friday is your soil from home. I realize it’s been very cold so I’m hoping with Thursday’s warmer weather you can dig up just enough so you will be able to test it for next week’s lab. Please put your name on your soil baggie.

Mrs. Carminito: A Block: page 283 #1-12, 25 page 284 #32-35; quiz Tuesday; D & E Block: page 287 #2-34 even; quiz Friday; F & G Block: Practice 7-6 worksheet; quiz Friday.

Mrs. White: Read 20 minutes and record in log. D block Strategy sheet, log and paragraph.
