Updates and Homework for 3/19:

All Students:
Update from Mrs. Lyon:
Computer6 – It’s nice to see the students again after their Kieve experience. They are back to using MicroType and remember they can always go to http://www.gamequarium.com/ for keying practice at home.

Computer7 – Computer7 students are going to be presenting their Email etiquette presentations to the class and then we will begin to explore how email can help with their school work and they will be exploring using a Blog in conjunction with the reading they are doing in English class. They also continue to improve their keying skills.

Computer8 – Students have begun to explore using their class Wiki. They have responded to questions about their reading from My Brother Sam is Dead and next will be working on a combined project with the other Computer8 class. They also continue to brush up on their keying skills.

REMIDER:
FRIDAY IS THE LAST DAY FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL YEARBOOK ORDERS. AFTER THIS YEARBOOKS WILL BE SOLD IN JUNE IF WE HAVE ANY LEFTOVERS. PLEASE REMEMBER WE CANNOT ACCEPT CASH ORDERS.

The Girls Basketball Banquet will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2009 starting at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. All levels and their families are invited.

The next PTA General Membership Meeting will be held on Thursday, April 30th at 7:00 pm at the Penn Brook Library. Please try to attend as we will be voting on our revised bylaws.

From Mr. Kaminsky: Second payments for the May 8 trip to Six Flags (7th & 8th grade band and 8th grade chorus) are due this Friday, March 20 to Mr. Kaminski or Mrs. Laflamme. Any student who has not at least partially paid for the trip by then will be dropped from the trip.

CHESS CLUB: There will be a meeting on Tuesday, March 24, 2009. Any questions, please see Ms. Weldon.

The Wrestling Banquet will be held on Monday, March 23, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria and auditorium.

The Cheering Banquet will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.

The Boys Basketball Banquet will be held on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.

Strength and Conditioning will be held on Tuesdays from 6:00-7:00 a.m., Wednesdays from 3:00 -4:00 p.m and 5:30-6:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 noon in the weight room for anyone who would like to participate.

Grade 8:
Mongeau: Read pages 99 and 100 and complete worksheet on the Articles of Confederation.

Mrs. Reed: Reteach and Practice 8-6 all

Mrs. White: Read 20 minutes and record in log.

Mrs. Sheridan: Gr 8 Sci - Complete Cell Structure and Function packet: #16 – 22 (skip 15 – we’ll complete the chart in class)


Grade 7:
Mrs. Weldon: All Classes: Study for Vocabulary Lesson 21 Test; Final copy of Object Poem.

Mrs. Schauerman: SCIENCE - Mollusk Quiz on Monday. Begin studying now! MATH - Reteach 6 -11 Worksheet # 4 - 19.

Mrs. Hickey- ALL Classes: There is no homework tonight. Students took the quiz on mollusks today. We are starting a lab experiment.

*Update from yesterday (we were experiencing technical problems): Mrs. Hickey- ALL classes:
The students have a quiz tomorrow on mollusks. The students have known about this quiz since last Wednesday, as it was originally scheduled for Tuesday. Today in class we reviewed the study sheets that were started last Wednesday. They will be collected and graded tomorrow. Students were given a list of items to study, including the diagram on page 51 and a list of 3 essay questions that will appear on the quiz. Students will have to choose 2 essay questions to answer. We have been discussing the importance of answering open-response questions, as they appear on the MCAS. Thank you.

Grade 6:
Ms. Harrington: Due: Friday—complete page 28 in the “Erosion and Deposition” packet.

Mrs. Fulton’s 6th grade classes have been keeping a 3 day Food/ Activity/TV Screen Time Journal. Class B456 received their journals on Wed. Please remind them to complete their journals daily. C 456 and C123 Journals should now be complete and ready to be turned in.

Mrs. Reed: Finish and turn in picture dictionary that was due on Wednesday. Remember 5 points off for every day late.

Mrs. Carminito: A Block: quiz tomorrow; D & E Block: circle graph worksheet; quiz tomorrow; F & G Block: Chapter test and binder check tomorrow.

Mrs. White: D,F &G Blocks bring in similes and metaphors from your reading.
