Updates and Homework for 2/10:

All Students:
From Mr. Kaminsky: Middle school jazz band will meet tomorrow from 2:30 to 3:30 in the band room.

From the Art Department: Any students wishing to collect their artwork from last semester in Miss Murphy’s classes should stop by her room today after lunch. Please be sure to double check that you have all your fantastic works as the art room must be cleared out by the end of this week to make space for current art students. Thank you!

Grade 8 students who would like to submit a baby picture for the MS yearbook need to do so no later than Friday the 13th. Pass these into your A block teacher. Pictures should have the student’s name and a block teacher name written on the back of the picture (not on an envelope)Please no photographs that are copyrighted by professional photographers. Any questions- please see Mrs. DiFruscio.

GAME DAY: The SADD ( Students Against Destructive Decisions) is hosting a Game Day for Middle School students on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 in room 3070 ( Ms. Difruscio’s room) from 2:30 until 4:00pm. Come have some fun playing board games with high school students. Snacks will be provided. Door prizes too!

Attention all Middle School Students:The Georgetown PTA will be holding its 3rd annual spelling bee sponsored by the Georgetown Record.
When: Thursday, March 5, 2009 registration at 5:30 contest at 6:00
Where: GMHS Auditorium
Registration forms must be received by Friday, February 27, 2009 to participate in this event.

Mrs. Rydbeck: A Block- Finished Page 365 # 1-11 Quiz on Proportion and Percent of change tomorrow; E Block- No homework; F and G Block- Correct questions on the quiz.

Mrs. Reed: Review Packet due by Friday. Friday Ch 6 and 4 Test. Vocabulary due Friday

Mongeau: Read pages 59 & 60 take notes on the famous Supreme Court Case, Korematsu V. United States

Grade 7:
Mrs. Hickey’s classes:
A,B, and F block classes do not have homework. E block has to copy the title, objective (problem) and materials from page 42 in their text. E block students also need to find two quotes from their text(pages 39-41) to support the hypothesis they copied off the board in school today. This work is in preparation for the “Earthworm Responses” experiment that appears on page 42. We are doing the experiment on Thursday and Friday.

Mrs. Husak: A – page 519 # 1-19 all; B – MCAS question # 29 – Quiz Thursday on sections 6.1-6.4; E –page 312 # 2-32 even – Quiz Thursday on sections 6.1-6.4; F – page 519 # 1-19 all – Quiz Wednesday on sections 6.1-6.3.

Mrs. Weldon: All Classes: Personal Experience Essay –from the point of view of a character from Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.

Schauerman: SCIENCE: A-block - Complete Worm Reading Packet; F- block - Complete the Planarian lab; most of the answers to the questions can be found in your textbook in section 1-4 or on the Planaria Information Sheet. MATH -- Quiz tomorrow on Sections 6-1, 6-2 & 6-3; B- block - Practice 6-2 worksheet # 2 - 8 even, Practice 6-3 worksheet # 7 - 13, 14, 15, 17; E-block - Page 519 # 1 - 19 odd.

Ms. DiFruscio: Study for Chapter 4 Section 3 quiz. We have been on this section for the past week and have reviewed the following assignments in class so students should have correct information to study….Topics are based on: green reading Check questions on page 133 & 137
Section 3 Review Questions 1-3; Page 178 Questions 9 &10; Vocab: Cyrus, Persia, Marathon

Mrs. Morrison: A – Study preposition list. Complete Prepositional Packet. Read next chapter in Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry and finish discussion questions; E and F – Reread and study Ch 4 Section 3 – p. 132 – 137. Review Reading Check Questions on p.133 and 137. Also review Section Review 3 on p. 137. Quiz tomorrow.

Grade 6:
Mrs. Lamoly: ELA- Response in journal; KIEVE PAYMENT

Mrs. Reed: Picture Dictionary Group 2 due tomorrow.

Mrs. Harrington: Science Homework: Due: Wednesday—“Topography” quiz. Students should be able to demonstrate their understanding of topography , using their handouts, by matching contour lines of equal intervals with a profile (refer to both sides of page 5), key concepts and terms (page 2), rules for reading topographic maps (page 3), what does a saddle/pass look like (page 6)?

Mrs. White: Read 20 minutes and record in log; C Block-Logs due and Comprehension worksheet.
