Updates and Homework for 3/23:

All Students:
MCAS testing in English Language Arts will be beginning next week on March 31st. Please refer to the following grade specific schedule for your child/children:

Grade 6:
Tuesday, March 31st - ELA Reading Comprehension Session 1
Wednesday, April 1st - ELA Reading Comprehension Session 2
Thursday, April 2nd - ELA Reading Comprehension Session 3

Grade 7:

YEARBOOK MEETING AFTER SCHOOL THIS WED IN MS. DIFRUSCIO’S ROOM 2:15-2:45

The Cheering Banquet will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.

The Girls Basketball Banquet will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2009 starting at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. All levels and their families are invited.

The Boys Basketball Banquet will be held on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.

Strength and Conditioning will be held on Tuesdays from 6:00-7:00 a.m., Wednesdays from 3:00 -4:00 p.m and 5:30-6:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 noon in the weight room for anyone who would like to participate.

Congratulations to Jason Steele, Aidan Kelly, Melissa Ruh, Cole Martens, and Katherine Stolar who all participated in this past weekend's MMEA Northeastern Junior District Honors Music Festival. They were among several hundred area music students chosen by audition to participate in the the festival capped off by Saturday's concert. Georgetown is proud of you!

Grade 8:

Grade 7:
Mrs. Hickey- All classes: No homework tonight. I am still correcting the mollusk quiz. We are still involved in the lab on page 53 of the text. Tomorrow we will be looking at the observations.

Mrs. Lamoly: ELA-Vocab Lesson 7 pp. 41-46- MOVEMENT- Write the Correct Word and Complete the Sentence p. 43.

Mrs. Carminito: A Block: Practice 7-6 worksheet; quiz Friday; D & E Block: page 483-483 #1-14 not #5-7; quiz Friday; Chapter test and binder check next Tuesday; F & G Block: page 6-7 #1-24 not #13-15; project due Friday.

Mrs. Harrington:Due: Tuesday—complete the “Meandering River” and the “River System” labels (both sides of the worksheet #82 and 83).
Quiz—Thursday—“Erosion and Deposition”. Students have just completed part 1 of their study guide notes. I will give them part 2 of their study guide on Tuesday.
Extra Credit: Students can receive up to 40 points extra credit. Andover library will be hosting many events related to the Dust Bowl of the 1930’s beginning on April 1st. You can attend any of the events seen on the library’s website www.mhl.org/andoverreads (for each event signed by the librarian you will receive 10 bonus points) or you may like to read the poems about the times and challenges of the people in a novel “Out of the Dustbowl” by Karen Hesse. You will receive 10 points for a page of poetry related to your own community, and what kinds of solutions you think could be of help, or you can write a one page summary of Hesses’ novel.
Mrs. White: Read 20 minutes and record in log. G Block, signed log, similes and metaphors, and paragraph; D Block, 3 examples of similes/metaphors from reading

Mrs. Reed: Math Enrichment Gr 6: Pict Dict Grp 6 due Wednesday.

Mrs. Fulton’s 6th grade classes have been keeping a 3 day Food/ Activity/TV Screen Time Journal. All journals should now be complete and ready to be turned in. We will be going to computer lab during next rotation to enter information from the journals and do an analysis.
