All Students:
To all registered participants of the 3rd annual spelling bee: please make sure you are at the GMHS auditorium by 5:30 tomorrow evening. We are looking forward to a great event!
Middle School Jazz Band is cancelled for this week. We will meet again on Wed. March 11 at 2:30. Please see Mr. Kaminski this week for practice CD's.
From Mrs. Lyon: Middle School 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are well underway in there computer classes. Sixth graders are focusing on their keying skills. We use a program called MicroType in school and Dance Mat Typing (a free keying site they can use to practice at home). Students are also given access to www.gamequarium.com a web site which among many other things offers several free keying programs and games.
Seventh grade students are brushing up on their keying skills by warming up at the beginning of each class with MicroType. Students will participate in a private classroom blog that will focus on the reading they are doing in their English class. This will give students the opportunity to use technology directly with their core curriculum.
Eighth graders warm-up each class by practicing their keyboarding with MicroType. We will be focusing on using applications such as PowerPoint, Word, and Excel by doing projects that relate to their core curriculum. Their activities and progress will be tracked and communicated through a private classroom Wiki.
If you have any questions or concerns feel free to email me at lyonm@georgetown.k12.ma.us

Mrs. Hickey- All classes:
Sorry about yesterday’s blog- I don’t know what happened. Apparently you got an old message. The only homework students had last night was to get their Earthworm Responses lab report signed.Having it signed counts as an assignment. Students who did not get it signed already should do so tonight. It counted 4 times toward their lab average. I wanted to let you know that I am in the process of correcting the Planaria quiz and hope to have them returned to students by this Friday.
TONIGHT: Students have an “Echinoderms” worksheet to complete. It says “Review and Reinforce” on top.
NEXT WEEK: There will be a quiz on echinoderms on Tuesday, March 10th.
Mrs. Schauerman: SCIENCE: Complete the Sea Star diagram & the Echinoderm Study Sheet. MATH: Make a scale drawing of your bedroom. Please use proportions to show your calculations on a separate piece of paper. The drawing should be drawn neatly on graph paper with a ruler & should include:
Title
Labels
A key that shows the scale
Actual dimensions of your room should be included as labels on your drawing
Add your bedroom furniture drawn to scale in the correct locations of your room
Mrs. Girard: Parents: Please ask your student if he/she handed in the project that was due on March 3rd (yesterday)! I still have 8 students (!) whose projects are not done! We had three FULL class periods to work on the assignment last week which is more than ample time for the research. Students just had to put the information into a travel brochure, they have the requirements. This will count as a test grade and I would hate for students to receive a zero on a test grade—it will result in many changing from passing to not passing status. In a pass/fail class I find that unacceptable. I need your help—please be sure your student hands in the work! Gracias!
Grade 6:
