Updates and Homework for 2/11:

All Students:
From the Art Department: Any students wishing to collect their artwork from last semester in Miss Murphy’s classes should stop by her room today after lunch. Please be sure to double check that you have all your fantastic works as the art room must be cleared out by the end of this week to make space for current art students. Thank you!

Grade 8 students who would like to submit a baby picture for the MS yearbook need to do so no later than Friday the 13th. Pass these into your A block teacher. Pictures should have the student’s name and a block teacher name written on the back of the picture (not on an envelope)Please no photographs that are copyrighted by professional photographers. Any questions- please see Mrs. DiFruscio.

Attention all Middle School Students: The Georgetown PTA will be holding its 3rd annual spelling bee sponsored by the Georgetown Record.
When: Thursday, March 5, 2009 registration at 5:30 contest at 6:00
Where: GMHS Auditorium
Registration forms must be received by Friday, February 27, 2009 to participate in this event.
Savings bond prizes will be awarded to the top 3 students.

Grade 8:
Attention parents and students: Whittier Interviews have been rescheduled for March 5th at 8:30am. If you are still interested in applying the application deadline has been changed to February 27th.

Mongeau: Debate tomorrow on the question, “Does the United States have the right to limit civil rights of certain Americans during a National Emergency? (based on the famous supreme court case, Korematsu v. United States. Students need to have 2 pieces of research read and highlighted. They also have to list 5 key points on a separate sheet of paper that support his/her position. Dress to impress!

A Block- No homework.
E Block- Practice 6-8 # 1-10
F and G Blocks- no homework.

Mrs. Bailey: Lesson 16 exercises due tomorrow….test on lessons 15 & 16 on Friday.


Mrs. Reed: Work on review packet through first 7 pages at least. Vocabulary for Ch 6 & 4 due on Friday. Chapter Test 6 & 4 on Friday.

Grade 7:
Mrs. Hickey’s classes:
Students in A and B blocks should have completed questions 1, 2, and 3 out of the 7 questions listed on the bottom of the typed notes I gave them. Most students finished these in class, but those who did not should complete them for homework- complete sentences, no pronouns used as subjects of the sentence. This work is part of the page 42 lab we are doing tomorrow “Earthworm Responses” Blocks E and F had short blocks today, so this may be homework for them tomorrow night if the work is not completed in class. It is likely that all classes will have homework associated with the lab tomorrow night, due Friday.

B – both sides of worksheet 6-3 – quiz Friday on sections 6.1-6.4

SCHAUERMAN

MATH - Complete the MCAS packet (most students completed this in class), and complete page 229 # 1-12.

SCIENCE - Complete the 1st five sections of the Earthworm Response Lab Report using page 42 in your text. This includes: Title, Objective, Hypothesis, Materials & Procedure, following the lab Report Format handed out in class. This will prepare each student for tomorrow's lab activity. The final Lab Report is due on Friday and will be equivalent to a test grade.

E & F blocks- no homework
A& B blocks; if not completed in class, finish for homework
Chapter 5 Section 3
1. Read
2. Answer the 2 reading check questions on pages 176 & 179
3. Complete the Section review on page 179- all questions

Mrs. Morrison
A –Finish reading Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry and do the comprehension questions for ch. 11.
E and F – Finish Reading check questions for ch. 4 section 4.



Grade 6:
Mrs. Reed: Turn in Pict. Dictionary Group 2 that was due today if you have not done so already.

Mrs. Lamoly: No homework tonight!
