Updates and Homework for 10/23:

My apologies this post is late...

All Students:
The Builder’s Club has just started and we are already coming up with some great ideas to help our community. Ms. Bailey and Ms. Francis are leading the Builders Club and want to remind you that there is no activity fee for this program. It’s not too late to join and it is a great way to give back to your community. Here are some of the ideas the students have already come up with:
1. Food and Coat drive
2. Paint the school bulletin boards ROYAL BLUE!
3. Paint the communication skills on the bulletin boards
4. Animal drive for local shelter
5. Work with Kiwanis to serve Thanksgiving dinner at Pennbrook School
6. Work with Kiwanis to serve Pancake breakfast at Pennbrook School
7. Volunteer at the Emmaus House
8. Hat and glove Christmas tree
The Builder’s club meets every Thursday morning at 7:00am in Ms. Bailey’s room 3090.

Auditions for Bye Bye Birdie will be Tuesday Oct. 28 at 2:30 in the auditorium and Thursday, Oct. 30 at 6 pm. You only need to choose one of these dates. Sign up on the door outside the auditorium. Extra forms from the meeting are on the door of room 2220. See Mrs. Viera, Mrs. Laflamme, or Mrs. Grieb with any questions. Try out for the musical…it will change your life!

Mrs. Fulton’s 6th grade classes should be filling out their 3 day Food Journals, including exercise and TV/Screen time. These will be due next week on day 4.

On Saturday, October 25th, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the state of New Hampshire, in conjunction with Seabrook Station, will conduct an audible demonstration of all 121 of the Public Alert and Notification System (PANS) sirens that are located within Seabrook Station’s 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ). There are 27 sirens located in Massachusetts, within the communities of Amesbury, Merrimac, Newbury, Newburyport, Salisbury and West Newbury, with 94 in New Hampshire.
This demonstration is a public information endeavor designed to increase public awareness of what the sirens sound like and what to do if they are ever sounded due to a declared emergency.
The siren demonstration will begin at 12:30pm on October 25th, lasting from 3-5 minutes, and will end by 12:35pm.

Mrs. Hickey’s classes: The only homework due tomorrow is the research report assigned two weeks ago. It has to be a minimum of 3 paragraphs, focusing on the topic chosen by the student.
As the outline indicated, this is the only written Science homework the students have had for two weeks. Late reports will not be accepted. The report counts as a quiz. A number of students brought in their report early. I have made corrections and suggestions to these students so that they might receive a better grade. A signature from a parent or guardian on the final report is worth 5 bonus points toward the report grade. I did this hoping that students would share their work with their parents and possibly get some feedback from you prior to the report being passed in. Last but not least, a reminder that there is a quiz on Chapter 2, section 1 on Tuesday.
